Volleyball Recap: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Spruce Creek Hawks
Mainland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Spruce Creek Hawks. If the Buccaneers were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Hawks when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
The match finished with set scores of 25-3, 25-10, 25-10.
Kaliyah Legette paced Mainland's offense, picking up two kills. Legette got some help from Emma Starr and her three assists.
Logan Milan had a dynamite game For Spruce Creek., getting 14 digs and ten aces. Those ten aces gave Milan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rachel Smith, who had seven assists and five aces.
Mainland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Spruce Creek, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Coming up, Mainland will be playing in front of their home fans against Matanzas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spruce Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against DME Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
