Lake Stevens and Snohomish are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Stevens has three straight victories, Snohomish has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lake Stevens proved they can win big on Friday (they won by six) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bothell 4-3.

Lake Stevens got a great performance from Manny McLaurin as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Snohomish came up short against Lincoln on Tuesday and fell 5-2.

Landon Klein made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Dylan Hutchinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lake Stevens' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Snohomish, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Stevens has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Snohomish struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Lake Stevens came out on top in a nail-biter against Snohomish when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
