Softball Recap: Gaston Christian Starts Season with Win on the Road

Gaston Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Hickory Grove Christian Lions by a score of 10-6. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Lana Hanson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Hanson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Kenedy Miller was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Huskins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hickory Grove Christian fell to 3-1.

Gaston Christian has already played their next match, a 16-1 loss against Lee Park Prep on the 6th. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-11 win against Charlotte Country Day School on the 6th.
