Basketball Recap: Turpin Comes Up Short

Turpin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 50-37 defeat to the Loveland Tigers. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Turpin lost, don't look at Josie Carrelli. Despite the final result, she posted ten points and seven rebounds. Nyla Hemmelgarn was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Katy Wilber had a dynamite game for Loveland, going 6 of 15 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Wilber a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Rogers, who had six points and ten boards.

Turpin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Loveland, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-5.

Turpin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-25 loss against Indian Hill on the 4th. As for Loveland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-37 victory against Anderson on the 9th.
