Baseball Recap: High Tech SD Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for High Tech SD, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Orange Glen Patriots on Wednesday. Considering the Storm have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Neal Griswold made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, High Tech SD let Brandon Martinez and Landon Carroll run wild. Martinez went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Carroll went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Carroll has become a key player for High Tech SD: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Jesse Rubio was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

High Tech SD kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

High Tech SD pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Orange Glen, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.

As of now, neither High Tech SD nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
