Fans got a thrill when Tyler Banovich and Drequan Ross-Brown connected against Thornton Fractional South. The longest such play in South Suburban - Blue this season, the connection resulted in 63 yards.
Bremen scaled the state rankings by moving to 157 from 186 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Braves climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Rebels 22-13.
Bremen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Banovich threw for 198 and 2 touchdowns and Ron Sims had 83 yards receiving. On the ground Banovich contributed 75 yards. Sean Grant helped Bremen's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 41 yards.
Banovich put up the best numbers in passing as Dan Stell's team defeated Thornton Fractional South. Banovich's favorite target this week was Sims, who caught 3 passes for 83 yards.
Bremen's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Banovich has thrown for 524 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Sims has 12 catches for 186 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Bremen takes on second place Oak Forest. Last week, the Braves beat Tom Padjen's team, while Oak Forest defeated Hillcrest.
Two of the top teams in South Suburban - Blue will go toe-to-toe this week when Bremen takes on the Bengals. The Braves' offense has racked up 149 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Oak Forest has allowed only 85 on the year.
Bremen added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Rebels, 22-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
