Football Game Preview: Elgin/Pope John vs. Osmond

After two weeks on the road, Elgin/Pope John is heading back home. On Friday they take on Osmond at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Elgin/Pope John, but that can only make success all the sweeter.

Things haven't been easy for Elgin/Pope John, and their match last Friday only extended their streak of losses to five. They were given a punishing 0-60 defeat at the hands of St. Francis. Elgin/Pope John were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-54.

Meanwhile, Osmond simply couldn't be stopped last Thursday, as they easily beat Winside 54-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-8.

Osmond's victory lifted them to 4-2 while Elgin/Pope John's loss dropped them down to 1-5. In their victory, Osmond relied heavily on junior Joshua Gansebom, who rushed for 208 yards and 4 touchdowns. Elgin/Pope John will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
