Soccer Recap: Gilmer Gets the Win

Gilmer took a seven-goal loss the last time they faced off against Calhoun, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gilmer Bobcats beat the Calhoun Yellow Jackets by a goal, winning 2-1. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Yellow Jackets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Allison Hernandez and Yenifer Lopez scored both of Gilmer's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Gilmer's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Calhoun, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Gilmer take on Adairsville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilmer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season. As for Calhoun, they will face off against Ridgeland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun is facing Ridgeland at the right time seeing as Ridgeland is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
