Preview: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Caldwell Cougars

Ridgevue and Caldwell are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Ridgevue Warhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caldwell Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridgevue has six straight wins, Caldwell has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Even though Ridgevue has not done well against Emmett recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Ridgevue strolled past Emmett with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. Ridgevue pushed the score to 46-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Emmett cut but never quite recovered from.

Jacotah Thomas was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored ten points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Durrant, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Caldwell suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 43-19 defeat to Columbia might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Caldwell in their matchups with Columbia: they've now lost eight in a row.

Ridgevue has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Caldwell, they dropped their record down to 6-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Ridgevue against Caldwell when the teams last played on January 3rd as the team secured a 53-24 win. Does Ridgevue have another victory up their sleeve, or will Caldwell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
