Baseball Recap: Madison Extends Winning Streak to Three

Madison had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Owen Warhorses 13-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-4 on Tuesday.

Zane Buckner tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Shelton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Madison's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 5-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't). Jaxon Dillingham also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Madison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Owen only posted a batting average of .316.

Madison's record is now 11-12. As for Owen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-17.

As of now, neither Madison nor the Warhorses have any future games scheduled.
