Softball Recap: Ulysses Comes Up Short

Ulysses extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-4 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Goodland Cowboys. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Cowboys from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Goodland, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024 (when they won 10-2).

For Goodland's part, Allison Cure made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Cure has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elly Evert, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ulysses beat Goodland by a score of 8-7 later that day.
