Volleyball Game Preview: Desert Edge Scorpions vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

The Desert Edge Scorpions will challenge the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Edge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Desert Edge made easy work of Youngker and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial.

While Sunrise Mountain ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Desert Edge will have to contain Conlan Hopkins as he made an impact in Sunrise Mountain's last game. He had 12 digs and two assists. Hopkins has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times he's played.

Desert Edge pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sunrise Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.

Desert Edge couldn't quite get it done against Sunrise Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 2-0. Thankfully for the Scorpions, Pacen Craghead (who had four aces and three digs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
