The Brazos Cougars will square off against the Van Vleck Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Brazos made easy work of Boling and carried off an 11-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Ava Aguilar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Duran, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amie Vasquez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Van Vleck won against Hempstead on Friday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Leopards were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Hitchcock. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lakyn Matchett made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Matchett was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Kylie Sazera was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Kamryn Waller was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Van Vleck kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hitchcock only managed two hits.
The victory was the third in a row for Van Vleck, bringing their record up to 13-4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Brazos, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15-1.
Brazos might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Van Vleck in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
