Basketball Recap: Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Takes a Loss

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a hard 58-42 fall against Mountain Lake/Comfrey/Mountain Lake Christian. The Coyotes were probably out for revenge after losing 57-54 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryce Nielsen dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, Nielsen is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Dillon Smith, who posted 11 points.

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey/Mountain Lake Christian, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-8.
