Baseball Recap: Trimble Tech Comes Up Short

Trimble Tech extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 9-15-1. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Benbrook Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 10th.

Alberto Monreal was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Benbrook, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 5th.

On Benbrook's side, they got a great performance from Dan Stiefvater as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Martinez-Colon, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Evan Smith was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Trimble Tech didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-5 defeat against Arlington Heights on the 14th. As for Benbrook, they have also already played their next game, a 9-7 victory against Boswell on the 11th.
