Football Game Preview: Mainland Regional Mustangs vs. Delsea Crusaders

The Mainland Regional Mustangs will take on the Delsea Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Things were looking good for Mainland Regional after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a blow against Winslow Township, falling 41-6. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Delsea beat Williamstown 13-7 on Friday.

Mainland Regional better focus on containing Milo Gebhard and Adrien Sheppard as the pair were huge in Delsea's win. Gebhard rushed for 76 yards and one score, while Sheppard rushed for 67 yards and one TD.

Delsea was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

One reason for the win was Delsea's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Jayden Reyes was especially locked on to Williamstown's QB and sacked him twice.

Mainland Regional's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. As for Delsea, the win also got them back to even at 4-4.

Mainland Regional was able to grind out a solid victory over Delsea when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 21-14. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
