Baseball Recap: Canyon Hills Drops Season-High Score on Escondido Charter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Hills). They blew past the Escondido Charter Tigers 9-2 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Rattlers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Evan Zinn tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Canyon Hills is 2-0-1 when Zinn allowstwo or fewer earned runs, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Sam Wabe was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Lang, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Canyon Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Canyon Hills' victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1. As for Escondido Charter, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon Hills will welcome Chula Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chula Vista has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something Canyon Hills will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Escondido Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-City Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escondido Charter's pitchers better be ready for this one: Tri-City Christian has averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
