Soccer Game Preview: East Rutherford vs. Polk County

The East Rutherford Cavaliers will face off against the Polk County Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Rutherford's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

East Rutherford's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out R-S Central 1-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Polk County). They put the hurt on Chase with a sharp 8-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Polk County in their matchups with Chase: they've now won eight in a row.

Polk County's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for East Rutherford, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12-1.

East Rutherford might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Polk County in their previous matchup on April 7th. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cavaliers were down 3-0.
