Basketball Recap: East Wake Academy Takes a Loss

East Wake Academy was the 58-51 winner over Research Triangle when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The East Wake Academy Eagles fell 53-45 to the Research Triangle Raptors on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Research Triangle can attribute much of their success to Sam Griffith, who almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Those 23 points gave Griffith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Darien Venable, who posted 11 points and five boards.

East Wake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Research Triangle, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.

East Wake Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Research Triangle, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against NCSSM: Durham at 7:30 p.m.
