Baseball Recap: Southern Wayne Saints vs. Midway Raiders

Southern Wayne had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-14 to make it five. They fell just short of the Midway Raiders by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

Kaeden Hinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Midway, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Midway's side, the team relied heavily on Luke Peterson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Those three runs gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Tew, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Coming up, Southern Wayne will head out on the road to take on North Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midway, they will welcome North Duplin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
