Softball Game Preview: Riverview Pirates vs. Flat Rock Rams

The Riverview Pirates will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Flat Rock Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Riverview put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They blew past Jefferson 14-1. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Flat Rock beat Milan 11-7 on Tuesday.

Vanessa Neace made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Sarah Giroux was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Zoe Ryan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Riverview now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Flat Rock, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Riverview got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Flat Rock by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
