Softball Recap: Lake Nona Comes Up Short

After flying high against University last Wednesday, Lake Nona came back down to earth. The Lions fell 11-6 to the Innovation Bulls on Friday.

Valeria Rivera and Alexandra Rodriguez did some serious damage despite the final result: Rivera went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Rodriguez scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Rodriguez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Campbell Walker was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Lake Nona has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Innovation, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Lake Nona will challenge Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Innovation, they have already played their next game, an 11-6 victory against Winter Park on the 14th.
