Baseball Game Preview: Taos Tigers vs. Bayfield Wolverines

The Taos Tigers will take on the Bayfield Wolverines at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Taos will be strutting in after a victory while Bayfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Taos will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Aztec, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Taos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Aztec on Wednesday.

Taos got a great performance from Ricco Martinez as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Christian Fresquez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Bloomfield.

Tavian Box was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Taos' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Bayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
