Santana and Helix are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Sultans are taking a road trip to square off against the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santana will be strutting in after a win while Helix will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, Santana narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Montgomery 4-2.

Israel Sanchez looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Santana's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Landers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Donovan Shannon also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Helix was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastlake.

Helix's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Santana, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9.

Santana was able to grind out a solid win over Helix when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sultans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
