Softball Recap: Bethlehem Wins Going Away Against Malone

It was a proper cat-fight when Bethlehem took on Malone on Monday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-8 back in March.

Mackenzie Saporito made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Saporito was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bethlehem got a massive performance out of Morgan Faircloth, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Faircloth also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Ruby Bailey was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

Bethlehem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Bethlehem back to even at 4-4. As for Malone, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bethlehem will challenge Geneva County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Malone, they will take on Sneads at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.92 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
