Basketball Game Preview: West-Oak Warriors vs. Carolina Academy Trojans

West-Oak is on a six-game streak of home losses, Carolina Academy a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The West-Oak Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Carolina Academy Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West-Oak is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Rabun County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. West-Oak was outmatched by Rabun County and fell 80-46. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 236th in South Carolina, while the Wildcats are ranked 71st in Georgia).

West-Oak might have lost, but man, Brett Winegard was a machine: he went 6 of 7 on his way to 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Burgess, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carolina Academy was beaten by Berea 73-44 on Thursday.

West-Oak's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Carolina Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
