Softball Game Preview: Crestwood Comets vs. Scranton Knights

The Crestwood Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Scranton Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Crestwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Crestwood fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Pittston on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 10-4 to the Patriots. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brooke Lenahan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Mendrzycki was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

Meanwhile, Scranton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Scranton Prep.

Crestwood's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Scranton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
