Baseball Game Preview: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Steubenville Big Red

The Zanesville Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Steubenville Big Red at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Heath hit Zanesville with a five-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils fell 8-3 to the Bulldogs. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Zanesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Mohler, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Steubenville not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 9-1). They put the hurt on Catholic Central with a sharp 11-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Big Red considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Steubenville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Zanesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Zanesville couldn't quite finish off Steubenville when the teams last played back in May of 2018 and fell 4-2. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
