Basketball Recap: Victoria East Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Victoria East ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 56-50 W over the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-54 back in January.

Despite the loss, Lamar Consolidated saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Edgar Garcia went 8 for 11 en route to 21 points and five boards. Renniek James was another key player, putting up 15 points and six rebounds.

Victoria East has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.5 points per game. As for Lamar Consolidated, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.

Victoria East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-33 defeat against Fort Bend Kempner on the 4th. Lamar Consolidated has also already played their next game, a 54-46 loss against Victoria West on the 4th.
