Softball Game Preview: Avon Braves vs. Perry Yellowjackets

Avon has gone 9-1 against Perry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Braves will look to defend their home field against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Avon will be strutting in after a victory while Perry will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, Avon got the win against Letchworth by a conclusive 10-2.

Jessie Crye made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Crye was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abby Schutz was excellent, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4. Kyleigh DeRider was another key player, scoring four runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Perry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pavilion.

Avon came out on top in a nail-biter against Perry in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
