Softball Recap: Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors vs. Cross Stingrays
Andrew Jackson Academy lost against Cross back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Andrew Jackson Academy fell just short of Cross by a score of 11-10. The Warriors just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
McKinnley Beard put in work no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. Beard was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sam Stevens and Harlo Sease did some serious damage despite the final result: Stevens went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Sease scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Sease also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Braelyn Hall was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.
Andrew Jackson Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Cross, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Looking ahead, Andrew Jackson Academy will take on Colleton Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on April 2. As for Cross, they will challenge Hilton Head Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cross is facing Hilton Head Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Hilton Head Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
