Softball Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. Northview Vikings

For the second straight game, Wilson will face off against Northview. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wilson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Northview on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Vikings. The Wildcats have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For Northview's part, Clementina Duran was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Duran has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple.

In other pitching news, Annaliah Zuniga looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Beatriz Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Bella Ochoa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Northview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Northview has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8-1 record this season. As for Wilson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
