Baseball Game Preview: River Valley Falcons vs. Yuba City Honkers

For the second straight game, River Valley will face off against Yuba City. River Valley will welcome Yuba City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: River Valley has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Yuba City will arrive with eight straight victories.

Monday just wasn't the day for River Valley's offense. They lost 11-0 to Yuba City on Monday.

For Yuba City's part, Brandon Pelechowicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, Pelechowicz didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eliaja Moncher, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Zeke Garcia was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Yuba City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive games.

Yuba City's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
