Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Sets Scoring Season-High Against Maryvale Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Notre Dame Prep). Everything went their way against Maryvale Prep on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-6 victory. Notre Dame Prep has beaten Maryvale Prep the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Maryvale Prep has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Bella Canova, who fired off three home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. Ryan Owenson was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Canova wasn't the only one making solid contact: Notre Dame Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep only managed six hits.

Notre Dame Prep pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Maryvale Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Notre Dame Prep will head out to challenge St. Paul's Girls at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Maryvale Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Timothy's at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
