It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Flowing Wells can now relate to. They came up short against the Mountain Pointe Pride on Friday, falling 47-26. The Caballeros have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Flowing Wells lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Quinn Van, who rushed for 65 yards and one score on only six carries. Flowing Wells also got a significant boost from Benicio Ruiz, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 119 yards.

Even if they lost, Flowing Wells' defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Mountain Pointe's QB won't forget Marcus Devoy anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Devoy has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 13 times he's played. Van got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mountain Pointe found their leader in sophomore Jamier McKinney, who rushed for 121 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those 121 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McKinney.

Flowing Wells' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Mountain Pointe, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
