Basketball Recap: Acen Gobert Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Community Christian

The Ehrhart School Eagles made easy work of the Community Christian Lions on Thursday and carried off a 71-47 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

The Ehrhart School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Acen Gobert out in front who went 8-for-15 to rack up 16 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Byars, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 20 points and four steals.

Community Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Smith, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points, and Ben Samuel, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brittnel, who posted six points.

The Ehrhart School's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Community Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

The Ehrhart School will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty at 6:20 p.m. on the 4th. As for Community Christian, they have already played their next contest, a 104-28 loss against Zavalla on the 24th.
