Game recap: Tigard High School Football Team beats Canby

CANBY, Ore. - Tigard (Ore.) kept up a steady attack all game long to upset Canby (Ore.), 42-14, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Anthony Consolo in the first quarter, the Tigers led 21-7 at the half.

Tigard expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. THS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Zach Floyd.

With the win the Tigers extended their winning streak to nine games. Tigard defeated the Raiders 67-35 last week.

Consolo was the top performer for THS. The senior wide receiver ran for two touchdowns.

Dominic Shorter played well for the Cougars. The junior halfback caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.



The Tigers entered the contest giving up 23.7 points per game this year. Tigard held firm on the defensive front, and kept Canby well below the 27.3 points it had been averaging per game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Canby, which notched a 30-13 victory over South Salem in its previous outing.

In a playoff game next week Canby (6-5) takes on Tigard, and Tigard (10-1) will go up against Canby also in a playoff game.
