Basketball Recap: Central's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of eight wins, Central's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Elk Patriots. The loss put an end to the Raiders' undefeated start to the season.

West Elk got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddex Moreno out in front who posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. That's the most assists Moreno has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Garett Usry, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Central fell to 11-1-1. As for West Elk, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Central will venture away from home to square off against Udall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Elk, they will welcome Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
