Soccer Game Preview: Yoakum vs. San Antonio Memorial

Yoakum hasn't had much luck against San Antonio Memorial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Yoakum Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. Yoakum has given up an average of 3.6 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Friday just wasn't the day for Yoakum's offense. They lost 8-0 to La Vernia on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 823rd, while the Bears are ranked 404th).

Meanwhile, San Antonio Memorial kept a clean sheet against Luling on Saturday. They blew past the Eagles 11-0. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by three goals or more this season.

San Antonio Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five contests. This is the second loss in a row for Yoakum and nudges their season record down to 1-13-1.

Yoakum might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from San Antonio Memorial in their previous meeting back in February. Can Yoakum avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
