Burlington Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Gaston Day Spartans 17-1. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Anthony Valdez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Cohen Payne was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Gib Wirt, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Burlington Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.

Burlington Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Gaston Day, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlington Christian Academy will square off against Statesville Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Statesville Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. Gaston Day will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gaston Christian at 6:30 p.m. on March 27th.
