Basketball Recap: Nacoya Blocton and Narissa Blocton Secure Win for Ridgeview

Ridgeview won against Ponte Vedra last Friday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Ridgeview Panthers walked away with a 50-43 win over the Fleming Island Golden Eagles. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Ridgeview to victory were Narissa Blocton and Nacoya Blocton. Narissa posted 26 points and four steals, while Nacoya had 13 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Narissa has scored at least a third of Ridgeview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Brown, who earned six points and three steals.

Fleming Island's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Crawford, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Seven Gourdet, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Ridgeview's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Fleming Island, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ridgeview Panthers duke it out with the The Rock Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fleming Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Johns Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Johns Country Day will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Fleming Island surely won't give up without a fight.
