Softball Recap: Westlake Has No Trouble Against Valley Forge

Westlake won the last time they faced Valley Forge and things went their way on Monday too. The Demons put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Cydney Loucka was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Loucka was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Riley Knapp was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katherine England, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Valley Forge, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake will face off against Buckeye at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 11.4 runs per game this season. As for Valley Forge, they will square off against Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
