Recap: Alexandria City Titans vs. Fairfax Lions

The Alexandria City Titans won the last time they faced the Fairfax Lions, and things went their way on Thursday too. Alexandria City walked away with a 51-43 victory over Fairfax. Given Alexandria City's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Fairfax is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kye Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Bivins, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five steals.

Fairfax's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cam Love, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Love hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Ronier Peters was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Fairfax were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexandria City only racked up nine assists.

Alexandria City pushed their record up to 11-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Fairfax, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Springfield the next time they take the court. Alexandria City will head out to face West Springfield at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, while Fairfax will head out to face them at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
