Preview: Cowan Blackhawks vs. Yorktown Tigers
Cowan is 0-4 against Yorktown since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cowan Blackhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Yorktown Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Cowan's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-18 loss at the hands of Tri. Cowan has not had much luck with Tri recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Elizabeth Sizemore was Cowan's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Davelynn Lindsay held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Yorktown took a serious blow against Pendleton Heights on Wednesday, falling 69-41. While losing is never fun, Yorktown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Pendleton Heights is ranked 50th).
Cowan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Yorktown, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Cowan might still be hurting after the 49-29 loss they got from Yorktown when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Can Cowan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
