Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Covenant Day Lions

For the second straight game, Charlotte Christian will face off against Covenant Day. The Knights will square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Covenant Day's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Charlotte Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Covenant Day, who was ranked 17th at the time (Charlotte Christian was ranked fourth). The Knights won by a run and slipped past the Lions 4-3. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ivan Andino was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Grant Nicholson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
