Western Branch is 9-1 against Lakeland since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bruins will welcome the Cavaliers at 5:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Western Branch 3.6, Lakeland 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Western Branch's offense. They fell just short of James Island by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Bruins' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Miles Melescu was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Western Branch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Walter, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Walter has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Lakeland made easy work of Deep Creek last Thursday and carried off an 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Lakeland pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Western Branch, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Western Branch skirted past Lakeland 5-4 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
