Covington Catholic proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Archbishop McNicholas Rockets. For the Colonels, this counts as revenge for the 9-6 win the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Covington Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Archbishop McNicholas, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Covington Catholic will face off against Dixie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Archbishop McNicholas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Name at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
