Preview: Columbia Wildcats vs. Greene County Wildcats

The Columbia Wildcats will square off against the Greene County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

With a playoff game on the line, Columbia rose to the challenge on Friday. They strolled past Morton with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. Given Columbia's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Morton is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Greene County's way against Raymond on Friday as Greene County made off with a 28-8 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Greene County.

It was another big night for Coby King, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns.

Columbia's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.0 points per game. As for Greene County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Columbia against Greene County in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbia since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
