Baseball Recap: Morgan Find Success

Morgan posted their closest victory since May 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Branford Hornets 6-5.

Jacoby Brown looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zach Viens, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trevor Powell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

The win got Morgan back to even at 2-2. As for Branford, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Morgan is taking a road trip to face off against Cromwell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the Huskies' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Branford, they will be playing at home against West Haven at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
