Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

The Canyon Crest Academy Ravens will take on the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Canyon Crest Academy turned things around against Chula Vista on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Spartans. The Ravens not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 14-4).

Jinho Bae and Derek Yu dominated on the mound. Bae pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Yu pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bae has become a key player for Canyon Crest Academy: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 7-14-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Leshner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Harkin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Mission Bay fell victim to Clairemont and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Chieftains, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered against the Chieftains since April 9, 2018.

Mission Bay also got a good showing from Colton Trout, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Trout has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

Canyon Crest Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-15-1. As for Mission Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-6.
